First , we must take a moment to thank all the volunteers that came out in August and helped us clean the building so that our children will feel welcomed and loved…because they are! We are READY for our children to return to our after school program starting on September 13th.
Since the summer camp ended at the end of July, we took a quick minute for a breather and went right back to preparing programs for this fall that will assist the children in many ways. Continue reading
Please join us as we celebrate the beginning of the fall 2021 school year at HLWM. Last year presented many challenges for our children but we continue to provide services to our children and families during this unprecedented time. As the school year begins, we want to make our programs the best they can be for our children, staff and community.
During the month of September, please consider helping us achieve that goal by contributing your time or financial contribution and most importantly prayers to begin the school year on the best possible note.
It’s been a wild ride this summer! This was my first teaching job with children on Chromebooks and I wasn’t sure what to expect but they won my heart over from the get go and proceeded to amaze me day in and day out. Our K-1 children learned the basics on how to coordinate use of a touch-pad mouse. It was a challenge after being used to using a touch screen tablet, but it was mastered along with other skills by the end of our summer camp. Continue reading
Today our children learned about and celebrated Independence Day. Programs will be closed on Monday in observance of our holiday.
Thank you Tim Crossman, Program Assistant from The Ohio State University Extension Office. You never fail! Our children and HLWM love you and are so glad you are back with food and nutrition programs this summer!
This Thursday, May 13th will be the last day of our after school program for Spring 2021. We will be starting our Summer program on Monday, June 7th! Enjoy the break and we look forward to seeing you back here soon! Bring your friends and register now!
We are so grateful to have these chromebooks for our children to use and learn from. But with any blessing comes responsibility and keeping our kids safe while they are online is of the utmost importance to us.
Before a child is ever issued a chromebook to use at HLWM, they will be required to sit in on a “safety class” at the beginning of each year. During the class, students will be taught age-appropriately the different things they can and should not do while on the internet.
Each child will learn in varying degrees the dangers that lurk on the internet. Continue reading
What we do at HLWM is sometimes best explained by our children. LOVE THIS!
We are thrilled to announce some new opportunities for our children and youth here at HLWM! We received Chromebooks via the City of Hamilton and we were also fortunate to have a friend of our Ministry upgrade the internet in the building to accommodate the new Chromebooks. Funding from U.S. Bank allows for year round technical support that will benefit our children. This has enabled to bring on Nanette Parks.
